I've changed the format of this exercise so you can draw card(s) of your own choice to do this
1. Get a spiral notebook or open up a word processor on the computer.
2. Shuffle and draw a card as normal. Doesn't matter if you've drawn it before. Different things will be in focus on each drawing.
3. Write down any features on the card that jump out at you and what they mean to you. Personal meanings are a lot more powerful than any found in a book because they're from your own intuition. You end up building up your own personal library of meanings. Include colours as well as symbols. What energy or mood does the card give off?
4. Do this on a regular basis. At least once a week, but once a day is even better.
Once you feel comfortable with the four steps try these.
5. Taking the information you gained from steps 1-4, apply to the question 'How can I make the most of today?' or try a Daily Reflection if you want to add some variety.
6. Try the exercise with two cards, and then 3. Compare and contrast the symbols and colours in the cards. What symbols/colours are present in all the cards? What symbols/colours are present in some of the cards? What is the mood created by the cards as a whole?
If you're feeling really brave!
7. What symbols/colours are missing from the cards? Is there some that you expected to see but aren't there. For example, coins/pentacles in a question about finance, or moons when dealing with a question about health.
I would recommend doing the Tarot Triplets as a follow on exercise, as it build on the techniques here.
